ASHGHAL SUBMITS AL KHORE FISH MARKET PROJECT 

Doha: Public Works Authority (ASHGHAL) has submitted the fish market project to the client Al Khor and Thakhira Municipality under the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning. The project situated at Al Khor beach overlooking the waterfront of Al Khor town comprises a total area of 4000 square meters out of which total area of construction the building amounts 2000 square meters.  The QR 12.7 mn project was completed in nearly 18 months.

The project consists of maintenance and renovation works in the existing market including demolition and reconstruction of some parts of the old building and construction of a new building in the middle to connect the old and new buildings to form a single complex, in addition to a mezzanine floor in one part of the building. The project also included a tower architecture at the forefront of the building with a water fountain at the bottom and an outdoor courtyard overlooking the waterfront. While the external works includes spreading a large umbrella at the main entrance of the building,  renovation of the road asphalt in the premises, footpath pavements with curbstone and installation of lighting poles around the complex.

There are 19 stores inside the market to be leased for Al Khor-Thakhira municipality, one multipurpose hall, two restaurants and a large cafe in addition to a big yard outside that can be used as open café overlooking the sea with beautiful sea views.  The building has been constructed in a renovated architecture, intermixing the modern architecture with the Qatari tradition.

The sophisticated building is centrally air-conditioned, with artistically designed marble flooring, glass walls for the shops, well-equipped toileting and cleanliness facilities with systems to reduce the waste of water as possible and fire fighting system including danger alarms.

On the other hand, ASHGHAL has submitted the Thakhira Channel expansion project to the client Qatar Port Management Company. Mubarakiya Marine Contracting Company implemented the project costing about 13.5 million Qatari Riyals while Tecknital Company provided consultancy services.

The project implemented on 80,000 square meters of the 2.1 km long and 24 meters wide channel included cleaning and removal of sand and silt sediments in the basin and the channel to the depth of 1.20 meters from the lowest sea depth, which is appropriate for the boats that use the marine terminal in this region. It also included installing and operation of 12 navigation lights on both sides of the channel to ensure safety of the port user in addition to maintenance and re-install the floating barrier breaking waves on both sides of the basin.
