
Engineer Nasser Ali Mawlawi, Acting General Manager of Public Works Authority (Ashghal) received in his office on Thursday, 5th February 2009 the Australian delegation from the city of Brisbane, Queensland, headed by Mr. Ben Myers, director of business strategy and communications for the Brisbane mayor's office. The delegation includes senior officials from the municipality of Brisbane and experts in the fields of engineering and architecture.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed issues of common concern in areas of cooperation between the State of Qatar and Australia, particularly in the areas of infrastructure development and management.
The discussion highlighted similarities between the cities of Doha and Brisbane in various fields including traffic, and ways to control the traffic jam were discussed. The delegation expressed its readiness to cooperate with Ashghal in the area of infrastructure development and asset management.
Its worth mentioning that Ashghal is working hard on marketing its projects within and outside the state, contracting with international companies for the implementation of major projects. Within a short period of its establishment, Ashghal has been able to attract a large number of international companies, especially from Europe and Asia to participate in tenders of major projects.
Senior Ashghal Officials including Eng Muhammad Ali Al-Darwish, Chief Technical Adviser & Director of Assets Affairs; Eng Jalal Al-Salihi, Drainage Departments Manager; Eng Jamal Shareeda Al Kaabi of Infrastructure Affairs and Mr. Khalifa Hashim Al Sada, the Acting Public Relations Manager attended the meeting.
