
Doha: Eng Nasser Ali Mawlawi, Acting General Manager of Public Works Authority (ASHGHAL) met with HE Kwon Do-Youp, Vice Minister of Land, Transport and Marine Affairs of the Republic of Korea and his accompanying delegation, at his office on Wednesday, 27/1/2010, in the presence of senior Ashghal officials.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed issues of common interest in cooperation between the State of Qatar and the Republic of Korea, especially in the field of Public Works. Eng Mawlawi pointed to the depth of relations between the two countries, especially in the economic sphere, which supports the entry of the Korean private sector in the infrastructure projects implemented by the Authority. Eng Mawlawi welcomed the willingness of Korean companies and its eagerness to take advantage of investment opportunities available in the State of Qatar, to participate in the Ashghal tenders for implementation of major projects in the areas of infrastructure.
Ashghal GM lauded the standard, efficiency and potential of Korean companies, referring to the pilot projects carried out in the State of Qatar and other Gulf Countries. He also insisted the delegation to promote greater access for Korean companies in the new tenders announced by the Authority from time to time.
On his part, the Korean Vice Minister expressed his happiness for the visit, and their interest in actively participating in Ashghal projects, describing these projects as "high-level" that increase the spirit of competition among various companies for their implementation. The Minister also offered consultancy services offered by Korean engineering firms in Asian countries in the field of design and construction, and project management in general.
The meeting reviewed ways to promote the exchange of information, experience and studies in the areas of development, granting Korean companies long-term business opportunities by participating in implementation of Infrastructure projects, in addition to the exchange of delegation visits between the two friendly countries, sharing expertise and experiences.
