Al-Rifaa Intersection on A-Ring Road Converted into a Temporary Roundabout

Al-Rifaa Intersection on A-Ring Road Converted into a Temporary Roundabout

The Public Works Authority Ashghal announces that it will convert Al-Rifaa Intersection (Sanaa Signals) into a temporary roundabout, in addition to diverting traffic on part of the A-Ring Road in both directions, from after Ras Bu Abboud Bridge up to Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout, into a parallel diversion road with the same number of lanes, as shown in the attached map.

The diversion will start on the evening of Thursday 28 February 2019 for a period of three months, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

During this period, Ashghal will also close the part of Ali bin Omar Al-Attiya Street which leads to and from Al-Rifaa Intersection, so traffic heading from the intersection into Ali bin Omar Al-Attiya Street can use a temporary parallel road, while traffic heading from Ali bin Omar Al-Attiya Street towards Al-Rifaa Intersection can use Al-Dostour Street leading to Dar Al-Kutub Roundabout and then to Al-Rifaa Intersection.

This is in addition to diverting the right-turn leading from the A-Ring Road to the B-Ring Road (towards Al-Doha Al-Jadeeda Intersection) and vice versa, as shown in the attached map.

The diversion aims to enable expansion and upgrading works on Al-Rifaa Intersection and installation of new traffic lights, as part of the A-Ring Road Development Project which will contribute to enhancing traffic movement and reducing congestion in the areas surrounding the A-Ring Road.

The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. Ashghal requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
