Ashghal Completes Works on Community College of Qatar (Male Campus) in Al Kheesa

The new building is spacious with various facilities and multi-purpose halls

​In coincidence with the new academic year 2021/2022, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces the completion of works on the Community College of Qatar (Male campus) in Al Kheesa. The building consists of four floors with an area of 13,650 m2.

The new building is spacious with various facilities and multi-purpose halls for studying or practicing educational activities. It provides a distinguished learning environment due to the modern design of the building and its educational facilities.

Eng. Ahmed Al Emadi, Head of Educational Projects Section in Ashghal, said that within the framework of the country’s plan to develop and establish schools and various educational facilities, in cooperation with the Community College of Qatar, Ashghal completed the works on the Community College of Qatar (male campus) in Al Kheesa. This helps increase the student capacity rate and provide distinguished educational services, noting that the female campus of the Community College of Qatar is to be completed by the end of 2021.

Eng. Al Emadi noted that the design of the campus provides educational, environmental, recreational and athletic amenities for students, as the building includes:

The ground floor:

​1. Library
2. Amenity lounges and rooms
3. Student hall
4. Lecture hall
5. Book store

First floor:
1. 8 teaching halls
2. 2 meeting rooms
3. 2 IT laboratories
4. Control room
5. Main administration office
6. 7 Administration offices
7. 8 college staff offices
8. Service rooms

The last two floors include services such as electricity rooms, 4 service elevators. In addition to 138 parking spaces.
Eng. Obaid Rashid Al Athba, Head of Engineering Support Section, confirmed that all construction works on this project were carried out in accordance to local specifications and international standards. The implementation of this project took about 1.2 million working hours without any injuries. He pointed out that the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ applies all safety measures in regards to workers on this project.

Quality, safety and environment

Eng. Al Athba added: “The Quality and Safety Department in the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has also implemented a new work mechanism to monitor quality, safety and environment. Specialists followed up the project over a period of 6 months, which resulted in a simulation of implementing a new work mechanism for all building projects in Ashghal and the subsequent comprehensive audit of the quality of the implementation and materials used. While taking into consideration the protection of the environment and the safety of workers”

Culture and Sustainability

It was taken into account during the design period that the buildings should have characteristics of the Qatari culture, and follow the highest international fire safety standards by doing the following:
•​ Creating a system to rationalize the use and consumption of water inside and outside the building
• Protecting the environment during the project implementation period

The new projects are a part of achieving Qatar Vision 2030, which comes as a priority within Ashghal’s strategy. Ashghal is keen to provide integrated infrastructure and public facilities that serve all sectors in Qatar, especially the health and education sector.

Educational projects occupy an important place among the projects implemented by the Buildings Department in the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The educational sector has recently witnessed a remarkable revitalization through the opening of a number of advanced schools that are characterized by their innovative services and spacious buildings that enables them to accommodate large numbers of students. Thus, improve the quality of educational services and the rate of student capacity in Qatar.
