The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ is participating as an official partner in the first edition of the Build Your House Exhibition 2020, under the patronage of His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani. The exhibition is being held at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) from March 2 to 4, 2020.The exhibition was opened by H.E Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, in the presence of Eng. Youssef Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Director of the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’, and a number of Senior Officials from various ministries and participating governmental entities.
Ongoing partnership
In coordination with various government entities in Qatar, such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) and other planning and service entities, Ashghal works to provide efficient and sustainable infrastructure services and strategic projects that extend to various regions of the country.
In this context, Eng. Youssef Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Director of the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ said: “According to the directives of His Highness the Amir of Qatar, and H.E. the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Ashghal aims to accelerate the pace of work, complete existing projects and fulfill the requirements of the current and future stage. Also, to implement Qatar’s national plans for infrastructure and projects, especially regarding citizens land plot projects, which has top priority upon governmental projects.”
Distinctive participation in the exhibition
Ashghal participates in the exhibition through six different workshops for visitors, as well as a booth that presents an overview of the most important projects implemented by Ashghal and the most important services provided by the authority. In addition to a number of videos and brochures to illustrate and display the most significant services provided by Ashghal to homeowners, establishments and road users.
The first day included presentations of two workshops on Ashghal’s most important communication channels and customer service, in addition to the service of connecting homes and establishments with a drainage network, which was recently integrated into the new electronic system for issuing building permits. That is in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the General Directorate of Civil Defense and Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) with the aim of making important amendments to the building permits electronic system, in order to speed up and simplify the process and develop the system.
Ashghal will be holding two workshops on the second day of the exhibition, including one on the most important drainage services provided to individuals and companies, and the uses of treated water and groundwater which contributes to environmental protection and rationalizing water consumption. The second lecture will cover the latest technologies and materials used in the field of construction, architecture and interior design implemented by Ashghal in building projects that citizens can benefit from in the early stages of designing and constructing their homes.
On the third day of the exhibition, Ashghal team will review permits for works on the right-of-way which is concerned with construction companies. This is in addition to the most important advice that must be followed in homes to maintain the sewage network and avoid its blockage, in addition to the most important precautions that can be taken in houses before every rainy season to protect establishments from being damaged.

Build Your House Exhibition is distinguished by its diversity in the topics and exhibits available to visitors. It serves as a distinct platform for Qataris to learn about the various procedures and stages of building their homes, including how to obtain the necessary building permits, required documents and full information about the area allowed for building the house. It also highlights the role of the country in the distribution of land to its citizens, as well as the most important safety and security standards that must be taken into account when building houses.
The exhibition also provides a unique opportunity to communicate between citizens, various government entities, contracting companies and consultants to learn about the important experiences in the field of construction and the latest smart, modern and cost-effective products, as well as the options available for designing, building and renovating homes. The exhibition is expected to attract more than 200 exhibitors, creating an important platform for getting the most out of the participants.
