Ashghal to Open New Signalised Junction at Bin Zaben Interchange on Al Rayyan Road Friday

10/24/2018

The new intersection will save time & improve traffic

The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, has announced that it will open a new permanent signalised junction at Bin Zaben Interchange (commonly known as Al Mukafaha) as part of the Al Rayyan Road Upgrade Phase Two. It will replace the current temporary signalised junction.

The opening will also include a new road that will connect the new signalised junction with Al Lebdaya roundabout in order to improve traffic flow between the surrounding areas and Al Waab.

The opening has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic and will be implemented on Friday 26 October 2018.

The new junction connects Al Rayyan Road with Leabday Street and Bu Erayyen Street, creating easy access for the areas of Bani Hajer, Doha, Al Luqta and Al Waab. The new opening will improve traffic largely since shifting traffic to the permanent road will save transit time.

Eight lanes will be availed to road users on each direction to the signalised junction at Bin Zaben Interchange increasing the road capcity, three (3) straight ahead lanes; three (3) left turn lanes, one (1) right turn lane and one (1) U-turn lane providing connectivity towards Bani Hajer, Doha, Al Luqta and Al Waab.

The existing 600 meter long road located to the west of Al Rayyan Park will be closed. However the local access will be maintained for park visitors and local residents from Old Al Rayyan Street as shown on the map.

The Public Works Authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limit as shown on the signage and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.

This is in addition to opening two lanes on Al Rayyan Road below the new bridge in the direction from Bani Hajar to Doha.
The new openings lead to a significant improvement in traffic flow in the area, especially between Al Furousiya Street and Al-Hawar Street, leading to Al Gharafa Road and Khalifa Avenue, where a number of traffic detours will be canceled, reducing traffic time to more than 50%.

The openings served many areas, especially Al Rayyan, Al-Luqta, Al-Gharafa, Mreikh, Fareej Al-Amir, in addition to Education City and Aspire Zone.

  • Intersection of Al Rayyan Road with Al Furousiya Street:

An intersection of three levels so that Al Rayyan Road traffic will flow freely through the tunnel, while the local traffic uses the signals at the ground level of the intersection, as for Al Huwar Street crossing Al Furousiya Street will be a free flow through the bridge.

  • The intersection of the Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street with Al Huwar Street:
