The Public Works Authority “Ashghal” announces the commencement of upgrading works on Al Wukair Road, as part of the Interim Road Improvement in South of Doha Area - Phase 2. These works aim to upgrade Al Wukair Road, at a length of 2 km, and convert two roundabouts into signalized intersections as well as develop infrastructure utilities’ services.

Both roundabouts along with Al Wukair Road serve many service facilities, shops, commercial centers, and educational and health institutions.

Further to converting the two existing roundabouts into signalized intersections to improve the traffic flow in the area, the project’s scope will include road developments in both directions of Al Wukair Road at a total length of 2 km, providing 4 km of pedestrian walkways and upgrading street lighting systems. It will also improve infrastructure utilities in the area, such as upgrading the TSE network and surface water drainage network, and providing protection for the existing power lines and telecommunications cables.

The project will be implemented by Al-Mohannadi for Roads Trading & Contracting under the supervision of Gulf Engineering & Industrial consultancy Construction, works are scheduled to be fully completed in the 1st quarter of 2022.

It is worth mentioning that these works are part of Ashghal's efforts to improve the existing services and utilities and upgrade the road network in several areas in the country, to cope with the national economic development and social growth requirements in Qatar.
