The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, announces the upgrade of the R/A known as Umm Al Swayya Roundabout, which is located on the road linking Al Khor and Al Shamal road, to a signalized intersection.

Ashghal points out that the new intersection will include an increase in the number of lanes to three lanes in each direction, which will improve traffic on the road between Al Khor and Al Shamal Road. The intersection will also facilitate the arrival of those coming from Ras Al Noof Interchange on Al Khor Road towards Ras Laffan, especially after the recently opened Ras Al Noof intersection.

To facilitate the implementation of the works, Ashghal will implement a partial closure of Umm Swayya Roundabout starting Saturday, October 19, 2019 for seven months in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. During the traffic change, one of two lanes will be closed in all directions to Umm Swayya Roundabout.

Ashghal advises road users coming from Al Shamal Road heading to access Ras Laffan to use Umm Esmaira Interchange at exit 38 instead of Al Khor Interchange exit 35 on Al Shamal road to avoid traffic congestion on Umm Swayya R/A.

Road users coming from Al Khor Road heading to Ras Laffan are advised to use Ras Al Noof I/C to reach Umm Swayya R/A  then Ras Laffan.

The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift and request all road users to abide by the speed limit, which remains at 80 kph along the route, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
