The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced the partial opening of Al Thumama Intersection, which was converted from a roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection. The new intersection was opened to traffic on Sunday, 7th of February 2016, as part of the upgrade project on E-Ring Road and Najma Street.
Two newly constructed lanes in each direction on Najma Street and the E-Ring Road were opened to traffic, while the remaining works will be ongoing in both directions for the completion of the works, as shown in the attached map. The Upgrade project on E-Ring Road and Najma Street aims to develop approximately three kilometres of Najma Street in order to expand it, in addition to the construction of two new signal-controlled intersections, and the development of approximately 3.3 km of the E-Ring Road in order to expand it and increase the number of its lanes to four lanes in each direction.
