The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar and Seashore Group has signed a cooperation agreement, 2022, to provide financial support by Seashore Group for various artwork within Zeeenah Initiative. This aims to support several beautifying works and artworks as part of the initiative launched by the Committee for the Supervision of Road Beautification and Public Places in the country, in cooperation with ministries and other government authority. In addition to initiatives supporting sustainability and taking parts in some events.

The terms of the agreement, which last for two years from signing, include providing financial support by Seashore Group for various initiatives and events within the projects of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar. It is implemented in cooperation with Qatari artists and residents in the country, and to the projects that serve the environmental sustainability in addition to sponsoring some of the activities in which the committee participates. This agreement regulates the responsibilities and rights of both parties in all areas of cooperation such as, wall murals in Al Khor Coastal Road, old doors in Iqraa’ plaza, and the mural on the water tank in Khalifa Avenue Road, and a number of artworks on the beaches.

The signing of the cooperation agreement was witnessed by His Excellency Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al Mohannadi, President of Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’, and Mr. Salem Saeed Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer of Seashore Group, where the agreement was signed by Eng. Mohammad Arqoub Al Khaldi, Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar and Mr. Saqr Saeed Al Mohannadi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Seashore group. 

On this occasion, H.E Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al Mohannadi, President of Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ stated that: since its establishment, the committee was able to achieve various accomplishments that effectively contribute in Ashghal’s strategy, ultimately supporting the efforts of the country in environmental sustainability which is one of the pillars of Qatar National Vision 2030. These developmental works supported the achievement of economic success of institutions and companies within the scope of business, which contribute in the support of local manufacturers and the development process witnessed in the country. 

He added: We look forward to an active participation of the public and private sectors, as well as citizens and residents in "Zeeenah" initiative. In turn, such beautifying initiatives help in transforming the State of Qatar into a vital center for arts and culture in the region.

From his part, Mr. Salem Saeed Al Mohannadi, Chief Executive Officer of Seashore Group stated: we are proud to sign a cooperation agreement with The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, which is keen on executing beautifying works and environmental friendly pathways, artworks and sculptures, and decorative fences that make travel between roads and plazas enjoyable. This is in line with the Seashore Group belief in social responsibility and the importance of supporting the art scene in the country highlighting the contributions of the artists in community initiatives.

He added: This agreement offers an opportunity to enhancing cooperation with the committee through funding artwork submitted by several artists, which enriches the artistic and cultural movement in Qatar. The agreement covers different areas of Zeeenah Initiative, which aims to beautify cities and reflects the celebration in various locations in the country. We thank the committee for this opportunity, especially since Qatar has become a center for art and Arab culture in the region. 

From his part, Eng. Mohammad Arqoub Al Khaldi, Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar said that, since their establishment, the projects of the committee help in creating a community-based environment with a distinctive identity. This agreement complements the committee’s plan in this matter, and in belief of the vital and effective role posed by the committee and supportive local organizations through funding artwork of Qatari artists and residents in the country, in addition to initiatives and events, that are making use of the shared potential of the committee and the Seashore Group. This serves the message of raising the awareness of environment, culture& art in the society and the goals of both parties.

He added: we value the role of Seashore Group in supporting the efforts of the committee in highlighting the Qatari identity in art and make use of the creativity of artists making the appearance of roads and cities more aesthetic and adding a distinctive imprint to places and enriching the lives of their residents and visitors.

Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar

The Committee works in coordination with several ministries and entities in Qatar such as the Ministry of Municipality, Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Culture, Qatar Museums Authority, Qatar Railway Company, Private Engineering Office and others. It aims to humanize cities with its vision to create a balance between people and the environment and change the car-dominated culture into a pedestrian and cyclist friendly culture.  The Committee’s main responsibility is to provide public services and spaces that promote a healthier lifestyle, aiming to achieve a joint vision with other common stakeholders.

To achieve our common goal, the committee works hand in hand with them to increase the amount of green areas in cities and residential neighborhoods, provide safe lanes for pedestrians and cyclists, and develop outdoor leisure destinations such as plazas and public parks and beaches. This is in addition to developing Central Doha and the Corniche. Furthermore, we work on developing the public realm by adding street furniture, bicycle parking spaces and adding decorative street lighting, as well as displaying artworks and sculptures to enhance outdoor spaces.
