Three-Day Diversion on Salwa Road Westbound Carriageway between Exit 17 and Exit 24

Map shows the temporary diversion on Salwa Road

The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, has announced the implementation of a temporary diversion on Salwa Road westbound carriageway between Al Sailiya Interchange (Exit 17) and Mesaieed Interchange (Exit 24) for a distance of 1.3 kilometres to allow the installation of gantries at Mesaieed Interchange, as shown in the attached map.

The proposed diversion has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, and will remain in place for a period of three days only, starting on Thursday, 29 November until Sunday, 2 December.

As shown in the attached map, traffic heading westbound on Salwa Road towards Bu Samra will be diverted to the eastbound carriageway after Al Sailiya Interchange (Exit 17) and will return to normal flow before Mesaieed Interchange (Exit 24). During this diversion, the number of lanes will be reduced from four lanes to two lanes in order to accommodate traffic movement in both directions.

During the temporary realignment, Salwa Service Road in the location will be limited to a one way flow with a right in/ right out availability to Salwa Road.

The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift and request all road users to abide by the speed limit which remains at 80 kph along Salwa Road and 60 kph along Salwa Service Road, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
