Al Rayyan Road

Brief description

Al Rayyan Road Upgrade Project involves 8.4 km works implemented in two stages simultaneously. Phase 1 runs 2.9 km from west Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Attiyyah Interchange to east Bani Hajer Interchange. Phase 2 runs 5.5 km from west Olympic Intersection to east Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Attiyyah Interchange. The project revamps Old Al Rayyan Street along with New Al Rayyan Street including 7 interchanges.

Benefits

Al Rayyan Road Upgrade project comprise of 2 phases:

Al Rayyan Road Upgrade (Phase 1):

Involves the upgrade of 2.9 km of Al Rayyan Road from West of Khalid Bin Abdullah Al Atiyya Roundabout (New Rayyan Roundabout) to East of Bani Hajer Roundabout into a dual carriageway with four lanes in each direction.

This phase include the construction of 3 interchanges to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion along Al Rayyan Road and the surrounding areas, which includes important residential areas in Al Shafi and Al Qalaa Street.

The project also include the construction of a dedicated pedestrian and cycling paths to improve the traffic safety.

Al Wajbah Intersection:

Al Rayyan Road Upgrade (Phase2):

The project works consist of developing a 5.5 km dual road with 4 lanes in each direction extending from west of the Olympic Roundabout to west of Khalid bin Abdullah Al Attiya Roundabout, in addition to construction of the following 6 interchanges:

Al Rayyan Road / Furousiya Street Interchange:

A three level

Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street / Al Huwar Street Interchange:

A two-level interchange

Al Rayyan Road / Al Bustan Street Interchange:

A three-level interchange

Al Rayyan Al Qadeem Street / Al Bustan Street Interchange:

A two-level interchange

Al Rayyan Road / 22 February Street Interchange:

A four-level

Al Rayyan Road / Jassim bin Hamad Street Interchange:

A two-level interchange

The project will also consist of developing and upgrading infrastructure for the area covered by the project. 31 km of treated sewage water pipes will be installed to irrigate green areas, 40 km of storm water drainage pipes will be installed in addition to 32 km of potable water pipes and the installation of a 15 km long sewage network.
