Brief description
N/A
Benefits

Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor extends for approximately 25 kilometers from Hamad International Airport to Umm Lekhba Interchange (known as Landmark Interchange) on Doha Expressway. Its scope includes the upgrade of seven (7) main roads namely, E Ring, F Ring, Mesaimeer, Al Bustan, Bu Erayyen, Lebday and sections of Al Markhiya Street. Road works on the corridor will total 37 kilometers as Ashghal will also enhance 12 kilometers of local and peripheral roads intersecting with the corridor.

Once complete in 2021, Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor will significantly contribute to the relief of traffic congestion on Doha Expressway in particular, 22 February Street. Leveraging its significantly high vehicular capacity of approximately 20,000 vehicles per hour, Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor will also create a better travel option serving thousands of daily commuters between north and south of Doha reducing travel time by 70%.

The project will deliver 17 interchanges comprising of 32 bridges and 12 vehicular underpasses to enhance connectivity and provide smooth traffic movements between 15 main roads serving 25 densely populated residential areas.
The corridor will also boast some of Qatar’s record achievements namely, the first cable-stayed bridge, the longest bridge, the largest interchange and the longest deepest bi-directional tunnel.
It will also facilitate access to five (5) of the 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums as well as complement the Doha Metro network by offering commuters the flexibility to combine road and rail travel to reach their destinations.
