The site area is circa 13 hectares on an overall site area of 50 hectares and is located just off the junction of the Al Shamal Highway at the Al Zubra Interchange (refer to co-ordinates 25.818899,51.333318). The overall property boundaries are as indicated on the map below.

The site is used as an agricultural research centre by the Ministry of Environment (MoE), and is divided into 22 fields that are clearly defined by a road network throughout the site. To access the site there is a gated entrance on the road link on the east side.

Only 9 of the 22 fields are available for the development of the animal containment centre, and the scope will be delivered in and amongst the ongoing operations of the MoE.

The site includes an Administration Building(s); Warehouse for seed propagation, a KAHRAMAA substation; numerous electrical pump station electrical rooms (50% in a disused state), some nursery structures and a number of other technical facilities such as water tank filling; chemical stores and a research centre run by Shell, see Section E; Reference Documentation; Part 1A; Brief Drawings.

The scope is to develop a purpose built animal containment facility that will house the existing animals from the Doha Zoo. The facilities will be split into 4 zones, which will predominantly group the animals by species or risk. The site also requires staff accommodation and administration facilities which are to be temporary facilities at first if the permanent facilities cannot be constructed in time to allow the animal relocation to commence.
The Contractor shall complete and deliver the whole of the Works within Three Hundred and Nine Days (309) days plus Four Hundred (400) days Defect Liability Period. After One Hundred and Twelve Days (112) days the animal relocation will commence from Doha Zoo,
