BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SERVICES
Located in the North Duhail area of Doha, the Audio Education Complex (AEC) (
http://www.aecqtr.com/) provides a national teaching facility for boys and girls who are either deaf or hard of hearing. The Girls School opened in 2005.
The site of the proposed New Boys School is on vacant land adjacent to the Girls School.
It is proposed to engage a Design and Supervision Consultant (DCSC) who can provide specific experience relating to Deaf Education and the principles of Deaf Architecture to undertake the design, design management, project management, quantity surveying and supervision of the construction process. The appointment of a contractor will follow the completion of the design.
This document forms the project requirements for the design and construction supervision to develop Deaf Education Buildings for boys and girls. The document reflects overall requirements of the Supreme Education Council.
This document provides an overview of the issues to be addressed by the Consultant in order to deliver:
- a world class building for the New Boys School; and
- the refurbishment of the Girls School reflecting the project objectives and the principles of design established for the New Boys School.
The education of boys and girls should continue within the facility during the construction of the New Boys School and the refurbishment of the Girls School.
It is critical through the briefing and design process that the needs of the AEC staff and students are recognized.
It is emphasised that the Project Requirements should not be construed as inhibiting architectural and engineering design freedom.
