Minor traffic diversion on the Temporary Truck Route north west of Mesaieed

3/8/2017

The road change is needed to commence works on the link between New Orbital Highway and Truck Route and the East West Corridor.

The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’ announces a minor traffic diversion on a roundabout along the Temporary Truck Route, approximately 22 kilometres northwest of Mesaieed, and has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

The proposed road change will be implemented on Friday 10 March 2017, with an expected operation period of 12 months. The road change is needed to commence works on the link between New Orbital Highway and Truck Route and the East West Corridor.

As shown on the attached map, Ashghal will only shift the existing Temporary Truck Route roundabout 50 metres to the east of its current location. There will be no reduction in the number of lanes on the new roundabout, and road users will still be able to travel to Salwa Road and Mesaieed via the normal roundabout exits.

To ensure the safety of road users, the speed limit on the Temporary Truck Route will be gradually reduced from 100 kph to 80 kph until traffic reaches the roundabout.

The Public Works Authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
