The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ participated for the first time as a Strategic Partner of the 16th Construction Material and Equipment, Building Today for the Future Qatar “Project Qatar 2019”, that was held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center between 29 April and 1 May 2019. This vital infrastructure fair is held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.

The exhibition was kicked off by H.E. Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry, who toured the exhibition. Followed by the keynote address by Eng. Yousef Abdulrahman Al Emadi, Projects Affairs Director at Ashghal. In his address, Eng. Al Emadi asserted the keenness of Ashghal in timely delivery of projects and highlighted important current and future projects, stressing that the door is open to all concerned parties to participate in their implementation.

Ashghal participates in the exhibition as one of the major governmental entities contributing to accomplish the Qatar Vision 2030 through delivery of road projects, infrastructure and public buildings in the State. Thus, Ashghal has showcased in the fair some vital projects, including models of Sabah Al Ahmad Corridor, 5/6 Interchange and Al Khor Road within the highway projects, in addition to models of Al Sadd Health Center and Mesaimeer Tunnel for surface water and groundwater.

On the other hand, Eng. Ahmed Al Ansari, Technical Office Manager at Ashghal presented a working paper on the first day of the conference discussing ways to improve the quality, performance of work and timely delivery of construction projects through change and intervention.

In this regard, Eng. Yousef Al-Emadi commented that Ashghal has overcame the blockade and continues to implement its project plans as per schedule and even delivers before deadlines, citing example of Al Khor Road that was delivered one year prior to deadline. Eng. Al Emadi also mentioned that more than 90% of the roads linking 2022 World Cup facilities are now completed. He further added that Ashghal's participation in the fair reflects the authority's keenness to open doors to all suppliers and companies to see and participate in its current and future projects.

The annual exhibition and conference “Project Qatar” plays as an opportunity for suppliers of construction equipment and technology to interact with various entities responsible for construction and infrastructure projects, including the Public Works Authority. Project Qatar is also an ideal platform to bring together the important partners of projects to discuss and review mechanisms for implementation, share expertise and lessons learned, as well as highlighting future opportunities and potentials of the Qatari market.
