The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, announces a road closure affecting a 300 meters stretch of Al Maqareen Street near Al Luqta area, and removal of the traffic signal at the junction of Al Maqareen Street and Lebday Street. The closure is required to allow the construction of a new bridge at Al Luqta Interchange.

As shown in the attached map, the closure is designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. It will be implemented on Sunday 27 January 2019 and will remain in place for a period of one year.

From Al Luqta Zone to Al Waab
Road users travelling south from Al Luqta Zone will no longer able to use Al Maqareen Street. Instead they will use the new local route between Al Maqareen Street and Ras Al Ghariya to travel to new Lebday Street service road and continue south to Lebday Interchange towards Al Waab.

From Al Waab to Al Luqta Zone
Road users travelling north from Al Waab can turn left onto Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street at the Interchange known as Al Mukafaha. They can turn right onto Huwar Street service road at Khalid bin Abdullah Al Attiyah Interchange and continue straight, and turn right onto Makkah Street to access Al Luqta Zone.

The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the traffic shift and request all road users to abide by the speed limit along the diversion routes, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
