The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, will open a new underpass as part of the East Street 33 Interchange on its Rawdat Al Khail Street Extension project on Thursday 1 June 2017.

The new one kilometer underpass is located at the intersection of East Industrial Street and Industrial Area Road and will provide three lanes in each direction. Combined with the flyover which recently opened at the same interchange, road users will benefit from free flow traffic movements between Doha and the Industrial Area.

Ashghal is in the final stages of construction of an at-grade signalised intersection which will enable multiple traffic flow movements. The signalised intersection is the final phase of the East Street 33 Interchange and is scheduled to be completed in July 2017.

Until the completion of the signalised intersection, some at-grade traffic movements will be restricted and road users are advised to follow diversion signage and routes as shown in the map and abide by the 50kph speed limit to ensure their safety.

The opening of the new underpass represents the completion of a key component of the three-level East Street 33 Interchange, one of five multi-level interchanges of Rawdat Al Khail Project.

The three-level East Street 33 interchange with its new flyover and underpass will significantly relieve traffic congestion in the area which currently attracts large traffic volumes of road users wishing to access popular commercial and residential properties. Full delivery of the project will also enhance transit times and improve road safety conditions.
