The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces opening part of the new
Al Khor Main Road adjacent to the current road, in the direction from Al Shamal
Road to Water Filling Station Roundabout and vice versa. The new road is 600
meter long and includes one lane in each direction. The existing road will be
closed as well as part of Al Haidan Street which leads to Al Khor Coastal
Roundabout.
The closure is required to facilitate the construction of a new
signal-controlled intersection near Al Khor Compound of Independent Schools for
Girls, in addition to construction works to develop the infrastructure, storm
water drainage network and road network in the area.
The closure of the old road will start on Saturday 30th, January 2016
and will last six months. During this period, drivers can use the alternative
local roads in the area, as shown on the attached map.
Ashghal will install road
signs to advice motorists of the diversion. The authority requests all road
users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their
and others safety.
