Ashghal 10th Ramadan Tournament Eventful End

Winners in 6 games crowned

​Ashghal 10th Ramadan Tournament competitions 2023 were concluded in attendance of H.E Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ along with Ashghal officials, where His Excellency honoured the winners in the 6 games of football, basketball, padel, table tennis, billiard, and video games (play station). Ashghal 10th Ramadan Tournament 2023 is a distinctive tournament with an unprecedented participation of more than 660 players including employees from Ashghal and from local and international companies, as the tournament was held at Qatar Sports Club in cooperation with the federations of football, basketball, table tennis, billiard, and snooker. 

Tournament closing day atmosphere was extremely extraordinary witnessing large audience and bringing great enthusiasm to the competitions throughout the tournament, as it also included withdrawing prizes for the fans at the end.  

Roads Operation and Maintenance Department (1) won a title in the basketball competitions with 216 participants representing 18 teams, after winning against Roads Operation and Maintenance Department (4) in the final match 70-85, where Mr. Mohammed Saad Al-Meghaiseeb, President of Qatar Basketball Federation participated in the honouring of basketball competitions. 

Abdullah Khalaf and Omar Al-Muftah also won the padel competition title which included 20 players, winning against Ali Mustafawi and Salem Al Marri, while Sandeep was honoured for the table tennis competition witnessing the participation of 42 players winning against Khaled Mohammed in the final, and Samir Waheed won the first place in the billiard competition winning against Roldon with 24 participants, and with Mazen Kabashi in the “play station” competitions, Ahmed Mashmoum won the second place with the participation of 20 players. 

The tournament concluded by honouring the football champions that witnessed 345 players representing 23 teams, where Al Nakheel team “Landscape” was granted the title after winning against Al Ghanim International 1\6. Roads Operation and Maintenance Department team won “The Ideal Team” prize, where Hassan Al-Emadi won the top scorer.

The 10th edition was a great success 

Mr. Abdulla Saad Al Saad, Public Relations and Communications Department Manager stated, the ‘Ashghal’ 10th Ramadan Tournament was a great success, whether it be due to the huge participation or through the development of participants' level from ‘Ashghal’ Departments and collaborating companies.

We have seen great level in all games, in a family atmosphere reflecting positively on work performance and productivity.

He added: “We have ensured to organize more than one competition to allow everyone into this big gathering. There has been an improvement in each edition, and the committee organizing the tournament has always sought for each edition to be better than previous editions. As we strive for change in each edition to add enthusiasm and excitement, in addition to diversity, as we had 6 different games to suit everyone to give the opportunity for many participates in their preferred sport. We would like to thank all the federations and companies that have collaborated with us to make this tournament a success.

Mohammed Talib Ballan:

The tournament imposed itself strongly

Mr. Mohammed Talib Ballan, Public Relations and Communications Department Assistant Manager and Ramadan tournament official stated this year’s tournament has exceed all expectations in participation, performance and huge turn-out, as this edition has the most participation with over 660 players.

He noted that the tournament has become more capable of creating a good work environment through exercise and rapprochement of everyone, which is an outlet of work stress throughout the season, therefore we are always keen to continue as a title of success that distinguishes the tournament that imposed itself as one of the biggest and most powerful tournaments in the month of Ramadan.

Hamad Nasser Al Naemi

The most comprehensive tournament and record participation 

Hamad Nasser Al Naemi, ‘Ashghal’ 10th Ramadan Tournament Manager stated that the tournament achieved its goals set for it by meeting as one family among employees of Ashghal Department and local and international collaborating companies, in a Ramadan atmosphere that delighted everyone, making the tournament have good reputation within the calendar of the Ramadan tournaments, especially as it is the most comprehensive tournament with the presence of many competitions, in addition to a large participation that exceeded all expectations. 

He said: "We are always keen to present the best edition and we will now start thinking about and planning the tournament for next year. There will be a meeting to discuss all matters and the possibility of adding other games in cooperation with sports federations. We expect a greater increase in the next editions, as this edition witnessed record participation of more than 660 players, which is a big number that gives us an incentive to always deliver the best."
