Ashghal Completes QR76 million Islamic Center Project

The cente is located at the west of the Ain Khaled zone, and faces the Industrial Area near to Woqod petrol station and adjacent to Al Maha Secondary School.
 
The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ completed the Islamic Center project and handed it over to the project owner, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The center at a cost of QR76 million, is located at the west of the Ain Khaled zone, and faces the Industrial Area near to Woqod petrol station and adjacent to Al Maha Secondary School.
 
Ashghal’s Building Affairs Department supervised the implementation of the project by local contractor Hamad bin Khalid bin Hamad Contracting Company (HKH) along with design and supervision services provided by Al-Mana Designs and International Consulting.
 
The Islamic Center will play a major part in spreading Islamic knowledge, culture and values in Qatar.
 
The Center is built within a vast area of 119,000m² and various buildings covering a total area of 12,775m².
 
The center is designed with a blend of modern architecture and local tradition. It consists of several facilities including three prayer halls covering a total area of 4,237m², which can accommodate a total of 5,500 people. There are also three ablution areas with toilets and cleaning facilities that a total of around 400 ablution spaces and 175 toilets.
 
The Administration Building includes a large reception hall; eight guest rooms; a business meeting room; a number of meeting halls equipped with the latest media tools; kitchen and dining facilities and internal open courtyards in addition to the passages and inner courtyards. The center also includes residences for six clerics with all necessary facilities, a centralized air condition unit, and electricity sub-station.
 
The vast external area of the center includes an Eid prayer yard with interlocking paving over 30,000m². This was designed for Eid festivals and big community events. The open areas of the center are filled with asphalted roads, paved corridors, attractive flora and a large parking area that can accommodate 1,200 cars.
