On Wednesday, 4th April 2018, the Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, hosted a workshop presented by Qatar University for Ashghal staff, identifying areas of cooperation between the two entities. The workshop, entitled "Advances in Civil Engineering and Potential Developments and Applications for Qatar" was held in the presence of Eng. Khaled Al Emadi, Quality and Safety Department Manager and with participation of several new engineering aspirants and other Ashghal staff.

The workshop included presentations and discussions lead by scholars from the College of Engineering in four areas. The first area covered “building materials and roads” and the second one discussed “drainage, treatment and use of wastewater for irrigation purposes.” The third part handled “health and safety in project management” while the fourth paper focused on “healthy monitoring and strengthening of vital infrastructure.”

This workshop comes within the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Ashghal and Qatar University’s College of Engineering (QU-CENG), aiming at development and enhancement of mutual cooperation between the two entities to benefit from the potentials of both parties in the fields of research, consultancy and community services, based on the desire of both parties in active community partnership and to facilitate mutual transfer of knowledge and technology.

Ashghal is keen on its efforts to achieve the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030 through building advanced infrastructure, roads and highways, besides public buildings in educational, health and governmental offices. At the same time, Ashghal spares no effort to support researchers and students from the university and to train fresh graduates in their specific areas with provision of required consultancies, envisioning that the State is the end beneficiary. Ashghal also considers that education is a top priority for efficient leadership and one main pillar of sustainable development, as stipulated in the QNV 2030.
