​Ashghal was pleased to participate in the ITS and Road Safety Forum Qatar 2013 for the second consecutive time.

Global leaders in the ITS and road safety industry have come together to uncover the latest project updates and industry developments. This was an extraordinary opportunity for all participants of the forum, local and international, to exchange their expertise and the latest technological advancements in the field of ITS and road safety.

In coordination with Qatar’s Ministry of Interiors, National Road Safety Committee and other entities, Ashghal is leading the development of a National ITS Master plan that will deliver seamless multi-modal efficient and integrated transport modes across Qatar as part of the country’s National Vision 2030. This will without doubt enable Qatar to be fully prepared to host world class international events in the next few years on its soil. The strategic and integrated ITS master plan will provide a framework to adopt ITS technologies and services that safely and efficiently serves Qatar’s citizens and communities.

Qatar has already implemented a number of ITS initiatives in the country and Ashghal is currently deploying the ITS standards and specifications across its vital infrastructure projects including expressways, tunnels and local road networks.

Ashghal has put a clear action plan in which 13 government entities will take more than 200 actions on the ground. It is of great importance that the initiatives related to transportation safety be reliant on clear mechanisms and utilise the most advanced techniques.
