Signing 5 Contracts for Infrastructure & Citizens’ Sub-Divisions Projects

​The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ held on Tuesday, 16 October 2018, a press meeting during which it reviewed Ashghal’s 2018 plan for infrastructure projects in citizens’ sub-divisions and the projects currently being implemented. This is in addition to signing five construction contracts for infrastructure and citizens’ sub-divisions projects in different areas, at a total value of around 2.7 billion Qatari Riyal, to serve over 5,192 land plots.

The press meeting was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of the Public Works Authority, Eng. Mohammed Masoud Al-Marri, Infrastructure Affairs Director, Eng. Saoud Ali Al-Tamimi, Roads Projects Department Manager, and a number of managers and officials from Ashghal, in addition to representatives of the awarded companies and a number of CMC members.

On this occasion, Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of Ashghal, said “Ashghal awarded more than 75 projects with a value of QR12 billion since beginning of 2018 for infrastructure, drainage and buildings projects, while this value is planned to reach QR20 billion by end of 2018. Eight projects for citizens’ sub-divisions will be tendered before end of current year in Al Kharaitiyyat, Ezghawa, Al Ebb and Leabib, Al Mashaf South and Jaryan Njeima.

H.E Ashghal President added “We thank H.E the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior for his unlimited support and giving priority to infrastructure projects for citizens’ sub-divisions and providing the needed budgets for these projects. We also thank him for his support to Ashghal’s plan post 2030 which aims to provide integrated infrastructure and drainage networks for all areas in Qatar.”

H.E Ashghal President also added: “We are proud that all contractors that signed the five new contracts today are local contractors.”

Eng. Saoud Al Tamimi said “Ashghal is giving a great importance to infrastructure projects in citizens’ sub-divisions in the coming period, and priority will be given to areas where groundwater levels are high and areas that lack drainage networks“

Eng. Fatima Salat, from Ashghal’s Roads Projects Department, gave a presentation about the 2018 plan for citizens’ sub-divisions projects, as well as the infrastructure and citizens’ sub-divisions projects currently being implemented in different areas including Bani Hajer North, Rawdat egdaim and Ezghawa, Al Foroush and Al Kharaitiyat, Al Nassiriya North, Al Wukair South, Muaither West, and Al Shamal City. These projects will serve a total of more than 11 thousand land plots, and most of them are expected to be completed in Q4, 2018 and Q3, 2019.

H.E. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of Ashghal, along with the representatives of the awarded contractors signed the 5 contracts of the infrastructure and citizens’ sub-divisions projects, which will include developing a total of 137 km of roads and 90 km of drainage networks.

The New Contracts

Contract 1: Infrastructure Project for Citizens’ Sub-Divisions in Al Kharaitiyat and Ezghawa (Package 3), awarded to the joint venture of “Al Ghanim International General Trading & Contracting Co.” and “National Industrial Contracting Company” at a value of about QR 671 million.

The project will serve 1,355 land plots, and includes implementing 40 km of roads, and providing over 4200 parking bays and around 69 km of pedestrian and cyclist lanes. This is in addition to providing sewage, storm water drainage, and TSE networks.

Contract 2: Infrastructure Project for Citizens’ Sub-Divisions in Al Ebb and Leabib (Package 1), awarded to “Qatar Trade and Contracting Group” at a value of about QR 645 million.

The project will serve 1,007 land plots, and includes implementing 26 km of roads, and providing over 3400 parking bays and 49 km of pedestrian and cyclist lanes. This is in addition to providing sewage, storm water drainage, and TSE networks.

Contract 3: Infrastructure Project for Citizens’ Sub-Divisions in Muaither West – Al Manaseer (Package 2), awarded to the joint venture of “UrbaCon Trading & Contracting Co.” and “InfraRoad Trading & Contracting” at a value of about QR 551 million.

The project will serve 1,548 land plots, and includes implementing 30 km of roads, and providing over 11 thousand parking bays and 120 km of pedestrian and cyclist lanes. This is in addition to providing sewage, storm water drainage, and TSE networks.

Contract 4: Infrastructure Project for Citizens’ Sub-Divisions in Muaither West – Al Manaseer (Package 3), awarded to “Boom Construction” at a value of about QR 489 million.

The project will serve 733 land plots, and includes implementing 22 km of roads, and 90 km of pedestrian and cyclist lanes. This is in addition to providing sewage, storm water drainage, and TSE networks.

Contract 5: Infrastructure Project for Citizens’ Sub-Divisions in Al Mearaad and South West of Muaither (Package 1), awarded to “Bin Omran Trading and Contracting” at a value of about QR 356 million.

The project will serve 509 land plots, and includes implementing around 18 km of roads, and providing over 3100 parking bays and around 35 km of pedestrian and cyclist lanes. This is in addition to providing sewage, storm water drainage, and TSE networks.

Mr. Mohamed Mostafawi, from Qatar Trading and Contracting Group, praised the efforts exerted by the government and the Public Works Authority in carrying out projects and involving the private sector in the implementation of infrastructure projects.

He pointed out that the Group does not hesitate to participate in Ashghal’s tenders for various projects. Today, Qatar Trading and Contracting Group has signed with Ashghal a contract worth QR 650 million to develop infrastructure of citizens’ land plots in Al-Ebb and Al-Leabib.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Athba, Central Municipal Council member for Muaither Constituency, expressed his thanks to Ashghal’s President and to all officials at Ashghal, and said: "The development works implemented by Ashghal in Muaither has provided many benefits to the residents and visitors of this vital area that is experiencing significant population growth. Implementing new projects there is an important step that reflects Ashghal’s keenness to provide infrastructure and services to the entire area to meet current and future needs.”

Mr. Mubarak Furaish, Central Municipal Council member for Al Gharrafa, South Al Kharaitiyat and Izgawa Constituency said: “I would like to thank everyone in Ashghal, especially the President, for their continuous efforts in developing the roads and infrastructure in various areas of the country, which are becoming more visible each day. We are confident that Ashghal will complete these new projects to the highest standards.”

For his part, Mr. Meshal Al Nuaimi, Central Municipal Council member for Al-Kheesa, Al Ebb and Leabib Constituency, praised the continuous cooperation between Ashghal and the members and committees of the Central Municipal Council, and said: “We are honored to attend the signing ceremony of 5 new infrastructure projects in different areas. This year, we have witnessed the completion of many projects and the announcement today of launching 5 new projects is an evidence that the achievements will not stop.”
