The Building Affairs of The Public Works Authority ’Ashghal’ plans to implement a number of new schools and kindergartens in different parts of the state.
These new educational buildings under the educational projects section of the department are to be implemented by next academic year.
The new package for Kindergartens includes nine KGs at Sailiyya, Shahaniyya and Duhail areas and two KGs each at Bu Nakhla, AinKhaled and New Doha areas.
Each of these buildings will have 12 classrooms, administrative offices, and annexes consisting of a guardroom and storeroom, in addition to shaded parking areas, external lighting and landscaping.
On the other hand, Ashghal has already delivered three phases of KG projects comprising 30 new KGs to the Supreme Education Council.
The buildings have been designed according to the international standards approved by the Ministry of Education and Supreme Education Council.
Recently Ashghal announced start of implementation works for five new schools within the plan of package to constructing 20 new schools in Doha and its surrounding.
Under this plan, six schools have been delivered to SEC including two schools at Um Garn one for boys and the other for girls, in addition to delivering Um Hakeem Girls Secondary School at Mamura, Um Aiman Girls Secondary School at Farej Al-Amir, and Umm Hani Girls Elementary School at Sailiyya and Ahmed bin Hanbel Boys Secondary School at Najma.
The educational section is now in the process of completion of new building for Abu Baker Siddiq Independent School at New Slata within the fifth phase and by completion of this phase, Ashghal would deliver 102 new school buildings with modern norms and standards.
The new school building in the plan consists of 25 classrooms, three laboratories, two computer rooms, two drawing rooms, school activities room, library, theater, cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sports courts, car parks.
It may be noted that Ashghal has open new tender for additional design for 36 schools with the intention of equipping these schools with additional exit ways in the event of fire, coolers and modified types of suspended ceilings.
The school buildings have been divided to seven packages and three packages are already under implementation covering 18 schools.
It is worth mentioning that the educational projects division at Projects Department that follows the Building Affairs supervises and maintains educational projects such as schools and kindergartens, with the help of two major departments; the Designs Management and the Projects Management.
