The Public Works Authority completed the implementation of a new set of projects for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) in different parts of Qatar. The new completed projects were divided into three groups, and include 22 projects between daily prayers mosques, jame’a mosques, Quraan teaching centres, Imam houses, and Muadhin houses. The projects were built in several different areas including: Nuaija, Bu Hamour, Ain Khaled, Old Al Hitmi, Al Muntazah, Old Al Ghanem, New Al Khulaifiat, New Slata, Umm Ghuwailina, Al Mansoura, Msheireb, Fereej Al Nasser, El Ebb, Rawdat Al Hamama, Rawdat Egdeim Al Sakhama, Umm Garn, North Khalifa, Julaiah, South Khalifa, Al Sheehaniya. Currently, 15 additional mosques are being implemented, which are expected to be completed in Q1 of 2017.
Daily prayers mosques and jame’a mosques include a main prayer hall for men and another one for women, ablution (Wudu) facilities for men and women, Da’wa room, and a parking area. The jame’a mosques can accommodate between 300 to 2,400 worshipers, and parking areas are provided in most of those jame’a mosques.
The Quraan teaching centres include classrooms, a library, a multipurpose hall, a nursery, teachers rooms, administrative offices, a kitchen, and a parking area. The engineering and architectural designs of the mosques and Quraan teaching centres feature a traditional and unified character.
Following are details of the completed projects:- Construction of three daily prayers mosques and Imam houses in Nuaija, Bu Hamour, and Ain Khaled
- Construction of one jame’a mosque and Imam house in Old Al Hitmi area3.
- Demolition and rebuilding of 12 jame’a mosques in Al Munatazah, Old Al Ghanem, New Al Khulaifiat, New Slata, Umm Ghuwailina, Al Mansoura, Old Al Hitmi, Msheireb, Fereej Al Nasser
- Construction of a Quraan teaching centre in Nuaija area
- Construction of two daily prayers mosques and two Imam houses in El Ebb and Rawdat Al Hamama
- Construction of three jame’a mosques and Imam houses in Rawdat Egdeim, Al Sakhama, and Umm Garn
- Demolition and rebuilding of one jame’a mosque and Imam house in North Khalifa area
- Construction of a Quraan teaching centre in Al Sakhama area
- Construction of one daily prayers mosque with an Imam house in Juailah area
- Demolition and rebuilding of one jame’a mosque with an Imam house in South Khalifa area
- Construction of a Quraan teaching centre in Al Sheehaniya area
