The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, will shift a 3.5 kilometre section of the eastbound lanes on Al Luqta Street to complete the construction of the mainline carriageway on the Dukhan Highway East project. 

The shifting of these temporary lanes on Al Luqta Street will allow the Public Works Authority to open a permanent section of Al Luqta Street between Tilted Intersection and Qatar Academy Intersection by the end of this year.

The proposed road change is located on Al Luqta Street, parallel to Education City, and has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. The eastbound lanes will be shifted on Friday 10 November, with the permanent new road design to be in place by the end of December 2017.

As shown on the map, road users travelling from Dukhan towards Doha are no longer required to turn left towards Qatar Academy Intersection and can instead head straight on Al Luqta Street to Qatar Academy Roundabout before continuing straight onto Tilted Intersection.

Road users travelling from Dukhan towards Nega Al Sahla Street or Gharrafat Al Rayyan Street will be unaffected by this change, and can turn left on Al Luqta Street towards the Nega Al Sahla Street intersection or the Qatar Academy Intersection to reach their destinations.

Road users heading westbound from Doha to Dukhan will also be unaffected by this change, and can continue their journey along the existing roadway as normal.

For the safety of road users, Ashghal will reduce the number of lanes on Al Luqta Street from four lanes to three lanes on the approach to Tilted Intersection. The Public Works Authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, which is signed at 50 kph, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
