Participants from the "Generation Amazing Festival 2019" organised by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy Plant Trees at Al Masrah Park

During the planting activity with “Generation Amazing Festival” participants
​​As part of the ongoing campaign "Qatar Beautification and Our Kids Planting Trees” Campaign to "Plant Million Trees", 25 young men and women from the "Generation Amazing Festival 2019" organised by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, participated in planting 50 trees at Al Masrah Park, as part of the works of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads & Public Places in Qatar, implemented by the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Environment. The event was attended by H.E. Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie, Minister of Municipality and Environment (MME), H.E. Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al-Muhannadi, President of Ashghal, H.E. Mr. Hassan Abdullah Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC), Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Khouri, Director of Public Parks at MME, Eng. Jamal Matar Al Nuaimi, Director of Doha Municipality, Eng. Mohammed Arqoub Al Khalidi, Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads & Public Places in Qatar, and Ms. Moza Al Mohannadi, Director of Marketing and Communications of the Generation Amazing Programme of SC.

On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Eng. Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi, Ashghal President, noted that Al Masrah Park is a distinctive new addition and one of the important projects that Ashghal is implementing in partnership with other entities concerned with promoting awareness and environmental initiatives. His Excellency added that he is delighted with the participation from “Generation Amazing Festival” in initiatives and works that contribute to increasing the green areas in the country, as this is a true reflection of the unified goals of all partners in these accomplishments, as well as the local community participates from all segments, especially the younger ones, with the same enthusiasm.
For his part, H.E. Mr. Hassan Abdullah Al Thawadi, Secretary General of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy, said: “Attention to environmental subjects and dedicating the efforts of many prominent entities in the country to implement projects that promote and protect the environment is a measure of the development and progress of any country and it reflects its society’s culture. Environmental sustainability is one of the pillars of the Supreme Committee's mission to leave a sustainable legacy to our beloved country. We are honored to be partners in these projects and initiatives that reflect the actual commitment of everyone to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030, through collective, real and concrete work in which most parties participate.”

Mr. Mohammed Ali Al-Khouri, Director of Public Parks at MME said: “We are pleased to see more achievements that increase green areas in the country and provide more public parks that the local community needs. Al Masrah Park is an important addition for public parks in Qatar especially with its strategic location, and we look forward to working on more of these projects that will achieve balanced development.” He explained: “In parallel with the enormous urban renaissance that we are witnessing and are proud of, there is also the development of environmental projects and extensive planting activities that are carried out in addition to major construction projects.”
Eng. Jamal Matar Al Nuaimi, Director of Doha Municipality said: “There is no doubt that Al Masrah Park allows new green spaces in new locations for the benefit of people in the neighboring areas, and it is really nice to have public parks in most areas so that they are more easily accessible to families in the same area. I would like to add that this park is equipped with facilities that make it a desirable destination for families and their children, and makes choosing a healthy lifestyle easy and enjoyable and does not require time or effort as all parks are available in most areas. We are looking to create more of these parks in the areas that lack them.”

Ms. Moza Al Mohannadi, Director of Marketing and Communications of the Generation Amazing Programme of SC expressed her happiness with the participation of the ambassadors of the “Generation Amazing 2019 Festival” in planting trees at Al Masrah Park within the planting activities being implemented in various parts of the country, which is in line with the goals and activities of the Generation Amazing Programme that is all about raising a responsible generation that seeks to bring positive change in society.
Ms. Moza Al Mohannadi explained that the Generation Amazing Programme, which was established in 2010 during the 2022 FIFA World Cup bidding, aims to inspire and involve young Qatari and expatriates, and to raise a generation of active youth to make positive changes in the community, with a commitment that continues after the World Cup matches, thus leaving a sustainable legacy in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.

She added that the festival in its first edition, which is held in the Oxygen Park of Qatar Foundation from 15 to 18 December, include various activities, workshops and cultural shows within the football for development program led by the young ambassadors, and other activities with ambassadors of famous personalities with the aim of inspiring the youth participating in the festival. The 2019 festival will be followed by a number of festivals until the 2022 World Cup, with the participation of young ambassadors, future leaders in Qatar and bright names from around the world.

Al Masrah Park
Al Masrah Park is located in Doha City, specifically on the Corniche Street. It is surrounded by Qatar Post from the Northern side, Qatar National Theater from the Southern side, Corniche Street from the Eastern side and Majlis Al Taawon Street from the Western side.

The name of the park (Al Masrah) was chosen in appreciation of the Qatar National Theater adjacent to it. The park represents a point of connection between the eastern side of the Corniche Street through the tunnel and the metro station located in the heart of the park as well as the Council Street
Al Masrah Park design is inspired by the features that surrounds it, where sharp lines and right angles were used to match the streets and adjacent elements, and a main axis was implemented between the two main facades of the garden and from it branches paths leading to different parts of the garden.

The park has an area of 108,000 square metres and the grass covers about 64,000 square metresof this area. It also includes 16 types of different local and international trees, numbering up to 850 trees.

The park was designed to include three main sections: Entertainment Areas; including seating areas, restaurants and kiosks to provide food and beverages for visitors. The second part includes areas for sports activities: including pedestrian, jogging & cycle paths which are made from recycled rubber and local Qatari materials. As for the third part, it includes green areas: shaded and non-shaded spaces for families which are suitable for children's games, in addition to the green hills to make the general view enjoyable and comfortable.​​
