​The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will implement a temporary closure on part of Jeryan Nejaima Street, on both directions from its intersection with Awjab Al Dakhla Street to its intersection with Al Tarfa Street. The closure will start on Thursday 13 June and will be in place until end of October 2019, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

During this period, eastbound traffic on Al Tarfa Street wishing to reach Jeryan Nejaima Street, will have to turn right into Umm Al Megareen Street, then left to Awjab Al Dakhla Street, and to Jeryan Nejaima Street. Road users heading from Jeryan Nejaima Street to Al Tarfa Street, will have to turn left into Awjab Al Dakhla Street, then right to Umm Al Megareen Street, and to Al Tarfa Street, as shown in the attached map.

This temporary closure is part of Al Tarfa Intersection development works, which aim to increase the intersection’s capacity through providing additional lanes, as well as improving the street lighting, upgrading the stormwater and TSE networks, installing interlock, landscaping, and protecting Ooredoo and KAHRAMAA lines under the roads.

In order to minimise the impact of construction works on traffic movement on Al Tarfa Street, Ashghal will later close only one lane of the street at each stage of construction within the project, after coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the closure. Ashghal requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
