​The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces a temporary diversion on part of Al Gharrafa Interchange Roundabout (known as Immigration Roundabout) heading to Khalifa Street while keeping the flyover and underpass open to traffic in addition to the right turn that connects the traffic coming from Doha towards Khalifa Street via 22 February Street. The diversion starts on Friday 12 April 2019 and lasts for 10 days, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. As shown in attached map. The diversion aims to allow the upgrade works of a new signalised intersection at Al Gharrafa Roundabout, which will contribute to enhancing traffic movement and increase intersection capacity.  

During this period, traffic coming from Al Shamal Road heading to Khalifa Street, can use the flyover straight to Al Rayyan Interchange and then make a U-turn to reach Al Gharrafa Interchange and take the dedicated free right turn to join Khalifa Street.

Traffic coming from Al Luqta Street and wishing to reach Khalifa Street should use Al Gharrafa Interchange underpass. Alternatively, they can follow the diversion route via 22 February Street southbound to Al Rayyan Interchange and then make a U-turn to reach Al Gharrafa interchange and take the dedicated free right turn onto the service road to join Khalifa Street.

Also Traffic coming from Khalifa Street and wishing to make a u-turn at Al Gharrafa Interchange Roundabout, should turn left at the roundabout to reach Al Rayyan Interchange and then make a u-turn to reach Al Gharrafa interchange and take the dedicated free right turn to join Khalifa Street.

Traffic can also access Khalifa Street from 22 February Street by turning right onto Makkah Street and making a U-Turn to go through Omar Bin Khattab underpass and then take left onto Al Zubara Street to reach Khalifa Street.

The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. Ashghal requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
