Ras Bu Abboud Beach (974 beach) development Project that was implemented in cooperation between The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy

The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar in cooperation with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy announces the completion of Ras Bu Abboud Beach (974 beach) development Project works, which will provide a new leisure and tourist destination for all people and visitors of Qatar.

On this occasion, Eng. Mohammad Arqoub Al Khaldi, Chairman of The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, said: “Ras Bu Abboud Beach project (974 beach) is considered a new achievement as part of the committee’s plan to provide various tourist attractions and activities across Qatar, in addition to enhancing the diversity of activities that can be practiced by individuals families and tourists in Qatar. 

He added: The project’s distinct location adds to its importance, as its located near 974 Stadium, one of the stadiums hosting World Cup 2022 FIFA matches, as it provides beach for swimming with the facilities needed, restaurants and areas for sport activities for all tourists and fans during the tournament, in addition to its unique view of West Bay skyline on the opposite side.”

Eng. Mohammed Abdulla Al Mulla, Executive Director of the Old Port of Doha at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy: “We are pleased to cooperate with the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in the Qatar in implementing Ras Bu Abboud Beach Development (Beach 974) Project, which serves residents and guests and provides them with a new entertainment destination in one of the most vital areas in the country, as it is located near a number of new and distinctive tourist destinations.

Al Mulla added: The beach has a unique design, as some of its elements were executed from recyclable materials, which contributes to preserving and sustaining the environment.

Eng. Jasmine Al-Sheikh, Project Design Manager at the Committee, stated that Ras Bu Abboud Beach Development Project (974 beach) aims to transform the beach into a tourist and family destination. Especially as it is in a distinguished area that qualifies it to be one of the main tourist attractions in Qatar. This project will allow visitors to enjoy a variety of beach and sports activities such as swimming, cycling, walking and relaxation, as well as enjoying a meal, all at the same place.

She added that the project is implemented on an area of 260,000 square meters and a length of 2.6 km, with a beach length of 1.5 km to serve all of Qatar's citizens, residents and visitors, especially visitors from surrounding areas, as it was ensured through the design of the project to provide a suitable and healthy environment by planting more than 15,000 square meters green areas and approximately 512 trees.

Various A​ctivities & Integrated Services

The project includes a designated area for sports activities, and pedestrian and cycling paths with a length of 2.6 kilometers, in addition to providing 36 bike racks.

The beach also includes buildings and service kiosks in separate areas, including restaurants, cafes, toilets, etc., in addition to providing seating areas, umbrellas and beach showers to serve beach visitors.

To enhance safety on the beach and enable its users to benefit from it at night, a distinctive and high-tech lighting network was implemented, including surveillance cameras and Wi-Fi devices.

The project includes 255 parking lots, including parking spaces for people with special needs, with slopes and paths that lead directly to the pedestrian and cycle paths.

The project also included the construction and development of infrastructure services, such as potable, irrigation and electricity networks, surveillance cameras and a network to provide Wi-Fi service.

Development of Roads leading to the Beach

The second package of the project, implemented, includes the construction and development of the 600 meter long road leading to the beach and Ras Bu Abboud Stadium, in addition to the establishment of a 1.9km shared path linking the beach to Corniche on the side of Ras Bu Abboud Road to facilitate entrance to the beach.
