Traffic Diversion on Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah Roundabout

9/6/2016

Drivers going to Doha from Bani Hajer or from Olympic RA to Doha will detour to new routes with newly-signalised junctions to turn right or left
The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will close Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Attiyah Roundabout and introduce two newly-built diversion roads connecting Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street to Huwar Street and Al Furousiya Street. The new routes will continue to provide access to all local amenities and residents, as shown on the attached map.

The diversion will be implemented as of Saturday 10 September 2016 and last until early September 2018, in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.
The closure is required to enable the construction of a free-flowing multi-level interchange which will connect Al Furousiya Street, Huwar Street and Al-Rayyan Al Jadeed Street.

Road users travelling eastbound to Doha from Bani Hajer via Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street will be detoured right before the closed roundabout onto a three lane, one-way diversion route connecting Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street to Al Furousiya Street. They are advised to use alternative routes for the rest of their journeys as follows:

To Muraikh: at Al Furousiya Street newly-signalised junction, turn right towards Muraikh.
To Olympic Roundabout (known as Sports Roundabout): at Al Furousiya Street newly-signalised junction, turn left on to Al Furousiya Street before rejoining Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and continuing towards Olympic Roundabout.
To Al Gharrafa: turn left at the Al Furousiya Street newly-signalised junction and continue on to Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street. Turn left at the next junction turn right on to Huwar Street towards Al Gharrafa.

Road users travelling westbound from the Olympic Roundabout (known as Sports Roundabout) via Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street will be detoured right before the closed roundabout onto a three-lane, one-way diversion route connecting Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and Huwar Street. They are advised to use alternative routes for the rest of their journeys as follows:

To Bani Hajer: at Huwar Street newly-signalised junction, turn left on to Huwar Street before rejoining Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street.
To Al Gharrafa: at Huwar Street newly-signalised junction, turn right on to Huwar Street and continue towards Al Gharrafa.
To Muraikh: at Huwar Street newly-signalised junction, turn left on to Huwar Street before rejoining Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street. At the next set of traffic lights, turn left on to the diversion road connecting Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and Al Furousiya Street then turn right at the Al Furousiya signalised junction to travel towards Muraikh.
The speed limit will be reduced to 50 kph along the diversion routes to ensure the safety of road users and the project’s workforce.

Ashghal will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
