Construction of Al Khor Area Sewage for Southern Region

Brief description
This project is a part of Al Khor Area Sewerage Scheme of Ashghal, which comprises various projects for construction of deep micro tunneling mains in the existing sewerage network to eliminate old pumping stations, construction of new major pumping stations and rising mains from the pumping station to the existing STWs and construction of sewerage networks for the newly developed areas of Al Khor and also expansion of STWs.
 
The project will provide sewage connections for present houses and a potential to connect to most of the future development at Al Khor for Southern region. The works will include the construction of sewage collection and conveyance system (commonly known as sewerage network system).
 
The project will see the establishment of 43 km of gravity sewer lines (including 7.5 km trunk sewer through micro tunneling), 1284 concrete manholes and approximately 2074  house connections.
Benefits

Sewage network connection, for the residents of Southern region of Al Khor is the main benefit of the project. Once completed the project will streamline the sewage collection from the residential/commercial units of Al Khor (South) and then convey through sub-mains/mains to a centralized pumping stations from where the same would be pumped through rising mains (under CP 707/1 project) to Al Khor sewage treatment works for removing contaminants (pollutants) to produce eco-friendly safe Treated Sewage Effluent (TSE).
