East Industrial Road

Brief description
As part of the Expressway Programme this project will upgrade the existing East Industrial Road from the south of the Industrial Interchange up to the existing roundabout at the junction of East Industrial Road and Rawdat Al Khail Street.
 
The mainline road is 3.5 km in length comprising of a six lane divided carriageway, (three lanes in each direction) to provide free flow for the mainline traffic, including the provision of two new interchanges and two new interchanges.
 
Local traffic movements will be catered for through a two lane service road network. Additional features include: A temporary emergency flood area will be utilized to drain the surface water flow. Other infrastructure installation works include, relocation of foul sewage rising main pipelines, street lighting, traffic signs, road markings and traffic light systems, electrical and telecommunications system relocation, guard rails/barrier walls and landscaping works.
Benefits
The East Industrial Road provides a strategic link in the corridor that will ultimately link the new port to the Industrial area.

The East Industrial Road, along with other projects in the Expressway Programme, will create a vital ring road which links to the future Doha Bay Crossing in the north and Mesaieed in the south.

This will become an important truck route for the movement of freight around the city and into the industrial area.
