North Road (Al Shamal Road) Corridor Enhancement project

Brief description
The North Road Corridor Enhancement project, one of the major constructions of Ashghal Expressway programme.
Benefits
The North Road Corridor Enhancement project is intended to revamp the artery road, including the creation of 200 km long service roads from Duahail to Al Shamal Town in northern Qatar.

Also, the project incorporates new multilevel interchanges – Izghawa Interchange and Umm Slal Mohammed Interchange, and upgraded junctions – Al Kharaitiyat Interchange, Al Kheesa Interchange and Lehwaila Interchange. The project comprises the upgrade of Al Khor Link Road with Al Shamal Road and establishing Umm Birka Road. New cycling and foot paths are supposed to be built, as well.

Two braiding bridges in Al Skhama and Umm al Amad are part of the constructions as well. The newly upgraded junction opens after the completion of a series of other major milestone, including Umm Slal Mohammed Interchange, Izghawa Interchange and the bridge linking Al Huwaila road to the North Road, Al Khor Link Road (from Al Shamal Road to Ras Laffan Roundabout at Al Khor), Umm Birka Road. The enhancements also feature TSE, potable Water line, foot and cycle paths.
