Al Huwailah Link Road

Brief description

Al Huwailah Link Road is part of the Expressway Programme and located in Ras Laffan, in the northeast of Qatar. The road runs along the western boundary and part of the northern boundary of Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC) which is the predominant occupier of the area of Ras Laffan. Currently the road is a single carriageway road that provides a direct link from North Road Interchange 66 to RLIC and VIP private properties.

The project is approximately 16km long and will connect Ras Laffan Industrial City with the recently completed North Road at Interchange 66. Other key features will include; 8.5k m of dual carriageway separated by a central median, with three to four lanes of traffic in each direction, 7.5km of single carriageway roads to link nearby residential areas and four new traffic signal controlled junctions.

  • The Al Huwailah Link Road is a major strategic road to serve Ras Laffan Industrial City and the residents of Al-Huwailah, in the northeast of Qatar.

  •  The project will upgrade and widen Al-Huwailah link road to provide vital links for both regular and heavy industrial traffic traveling to and from Ras Laffan Industrial City.

  •  The road runs along the western boundary and part of the northern boundary of Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLIC), Qatar's main site for production of liquefied natural gas and gas-to-liquid, and will help facilitate future expansion of this important industry.  The project is an integral part of the future plans for the expansion of RLIC associated facilities.

  •  The project will also provide dedicated shared pedestrian and cycle path for the entire length of the project.

  • Landscaping features will also improve the aesthetics of the area.

  • Along with the traffic benefits, there will be an upgrading of associated infrastructure along the project consisting of a storm water drainage system, treated sewerage effluent networks, potable water networks, electrical networks, Qatar Armed Forces networks, telecommunication networks, and intelligent transport systems.
