Flow diversion schemes in Al Wajba and Barzan Camp

Brief description
The project is located in Al Wajba just south of the Al Rayyan and Dukhan Highway and includes the area around Al Wajba Palace and Barzan Camp.

The project will resolve the current foul sewerage problems at Barzan Camp and replace the multiple sewage pumping stations with a gravity system where feasible.

The flow from Al Wajba Palace and Barzan Camp areas will be diverted north to Al Rayyan Road trunk sewer where it will connect with an existing connection stub ultimately draining to Doha north sewerage treatment works.
Benefits
  • The new gravity flow system is a more sustainable system as it will eliminate the use of three existing pumping stations, reducing operational emissions.
  • This will eliminate the risk of pump breakdown and potential flooding.
  • It will eliminate potential contamination risks associated with the existing system.
  • It will allow capturing and treating foul water to be used as a sustainable resource. The new system will be an improvement to utility services provided in the area and will allow capacity for future development.
