Al Shamal STW was constructed to accommodate the growing population in Al Shamal.
Al Shamal STW is located approximately 120 km north of Doha. It will serve Al Shamal municipality area consisting of three cities, namely: Abu Dholouf, Al Shamal and Al Ruwais.
The STW covers a 150,000 square meters site and it is designed for an average capacity of 7,500 m3/day, which can be expanded up to 22,500 m3/day.
The STW liquid stream adopts an advanced Sequencing Batch Reactor process with ultrafiltration and UV treatment. The solids stream goes through gravity belt thickening and centrifuges to sludge drying beds.
