Stormwater Drainage Network to Serve Fereej Al Manaseer, South Muaither, Bu Sidra & Al Sailiya

Brief description

​The project aimed to construct a stormwater drainage network which serves four areas in Doha West: Fereej Al-Manaseer, South Muaither, Bu Sidra, and Al-Sailiya until Al Furousiya Street. The network is part of Ashghal’s strategy to preserve the environment and public health and safety.

​The project aimed to construct a stormwater drainage network which serves four areas in Doha West: Fereej Al-Manaseer, South Muaither, Bu Sidra, and Al-Sailiya until Al Furousiya Street. The network comes is part of Ashghal’s strategy to preserve the environment and public health and safety.

Project Components:

  • 4.4 km-long Pipe laying works for stormwater drainage network
  • Providing 28 rainwater drainage outlets connected to ground pipes, which in turn are connected to pumping stations, running along Al Furousiya, South Muaither, Duhail Misfer, Rawdat Hubeira, Rass Laffan Streets and other streets
  • Providing 63 connections to drainage network pipelines that serve other projects in the area

Project Benefits:

  • Reducing overflow during the rainy seasons and facilitate discharging of ponds and rainwater, thereby reducing congestion and risk of traffic accidents
  • Lowering groundwater level which may damage the foundations of buildings and roads
  • Rainwater collection for later use in irrigation, thereby increasing the green space in Doha
