Description
1.1 THE PROJECT 1.2.1 Project Outline 1.2.1.1 The project location falls in Al Themaid district, Zone 79, Qatar. The project aims to cover the requirements around the Ministry of Municipality’s Quarantine Veterinary Facility (the Facility). The facility located on the existing road between Madinat Al Shamal – Al Ghariya in plot pin# 79340005. 1.2.1.2 The project has two main goals as following, as requested by Ministry of Municipality: a) To provide additional truck parking to the facility inside the plot. b) To provide flood mitigation measures around the facility. 1.2.2 Project Objective The primary objective of this project, as requested by the Ministry of Municipality (MM), is to provide additional truck parking capacity at the Quarantine Veterinary Facility. This addition aims to eliminate queuing within the facility premises and on adjacent roadways. 1.2.3 Scope of Works 1.2.3.1 The SoW works includes but not limited to the following: a) 10 truck parking bays designated for vehicles ready to unload. b) 13 truck parking bays designated for vehicles ready to load. c) 10 shaded parking bays to passenger cars. d) A restroom facility (portacabin) for truck drivers (Floor area between 24–36 sqm) e) CCTV & ACS System f) Enabling the accesses to new parking area, existing fences will be locally removed as per the drawings, permanently. The fence end treatments shall be provided as per vendor requirements. To ensure operational safety and prevent animal escape during handling, the rest will be isolated from the main facility using the existing fence line and newly proposed gate at the middle access. g) A lightweight, foldable (accordion-style), manually portable barrier will also be provided to support flexible traffic management during animal loading/unloading operations. h) The Contractor shall manage energizing of proposed Street Lighting by obtaining all required approvals in accordance with approved design specifications. i) The Contractor to implement a lined surface water swale within the plot to manage rainfall runoff and wash water. j) To address prior flooding incidents reported by MM, drainage amendments in ROW are included in this project: i) The existing culvert that currently discharges to the buffer area (which is confined with the Ghariya road, the facility and its access roads) will be decommissioned. ii) A new culvert (02) will be constructed under the facility’s entrance to avoid stormwater accumulation in buffer area. iii) A new culvert (01) will be installed beneath the existing road (in the Right-of-Way) to serve as a discharge route for the southern catchment area. iv) Both culverts will discharge via a graded surface (temporary earth channel) re-establishing the wadi to the north, thereby diverting water away from the facility. v) A temporary bund will be provided at the southern catchment boundary to contain overflow and protect the existing road until future development of the area is realized.
