Description

The Public Works Authority (PWA), intends to implement flood mitigation infrastructure within Qatar Foundation (QF) Education City to improve stormwater management, enhance flood resilience and support existing and future development within the project area through 2 Phases. The works shall be designed and constructed in accordance with the latest applicable standards, authority requirements and approved climate change considerations. The Project shall primarily comprise the assessment, design, construction, testing and commissioning of stormwater attenuation facilities, associated connection pipelines, flow control structures, pumping facilities where required and related ancillary infrastructure necessary to achieve the specified flood mitigation objectives for Phase 1. The Contractor through his Designer shall be responsible for the concept design for Phase 2, which shall include but not limited to an additional attenuation tanks to achieve the objective intended by the Project. The Design and Build Contractor shall optimize the location, configuration, capacity and operational arrangements of the proposed facilities based on detailed investigations, hydrological and hydraulic assessments, approved design criteria, the latest applicable standards, Ministry of Municipality (MM) rainfall intensity profiles and approved climate change factors. The Project shall be implemented in two phases as follows: a. Phase 1 (this Project): This phase comprises the development of the ultimate concept design for the Project, including attenuation tanks, and all associated requirements necessary to achieve the intended flood mitigation objectives. It also includes the detailed design and construction of fourteen (14) attenuation tanks with all related connections, as detailed in the Scope of Works. b. Phase 2 (To be executed by Others in the Future): This phase shall include the detailed design and construction of the remaining required attenuation tanks, based on the concept design deliverables developed under Phase 1.
