As part of its ongoing operations and maintenance program, the Public Works Authority (PWA) of the State of Qatar (ASHGHAL) plans to appoint a On-Call Consultant to undertake the Consultancy Work of Highway Structures on ad hoc basis as per the Engineer’s requirement in accordance with the Project Brief. The assets under the Consultant’s scope of work is detailed in Clause 9.0 of the Project Brief.
A. The highway structures mainly include
(i) Bridges and culverts
(ii) Retaining walls
(iii) Footbridges
(iv) Tunnel and other structures
(v) Sign gantries
(vi) Structural aspect of masts
B. The scope of work involves providing advice to PWA in the form of detailed reports and drawings on the issues related with highway structures such as .
• Emergency works like vehicle collision, vandalism etc.,
• Structures deterioration,
• Principal Inspection,
• Special Inspection,
• Slowing down or preventing the deterioration process where appropriate,
• Assessment of highway structures for standard loads/abnormal loads,
• Any improvement schemes,
• Design works,
• Design check/verification works,
• To carry out detail survey and preparation of As-Built drawings of the structure having no details.
• Assist PWA in taking over of structures from the Contractors.
C. The main objectives for the project are two (2) folds:
(i) To advise PWA on various highway structures related issues on ad hoc basis;
(ii) To carry out detailed inspection and assessment/study on various structure issues identified by PWA;
