Designs Department

The Designs Department shall have the following functions:

Preparing and supervising, as the case may be, the engineering designs and the technical specifications of the architectural, construction, electrical and mechanical projects of buildings, roads, bridges and drainage networks.
Approving the detailed designs and ensuring that the necessary consents are obtained from the competent authorities prior to initiating the projects tendering procedures, and preparing reports thereon.
Participation in preparing design tenders of the buildings, roads, bridges and drainage networks projects.
Participation in the technical evaluation of the consulting offices for the pre-contract phase.
Working on solving the design problems that arise during execution of the projects.
Preparing the technical reports pertaining either to the existing or under construction buildings or roads or tunnels or bridges or drainage networks in coordination with the competent authorities.
Studying and reviewing documentation of the architectural, construction, electrical and mechanical design of the buildings, roads, tunnels, bridges and drainage networks submitted by the consulting offices, and giving technical opinion and recommendations thereon.
Preparing, issuing, developing and updating general and detailed specification and design references pertaining to the buildings and drainage networks in coordination with the competent authorities.
Preparing, issuing, developing and updating general specification and design references pertaining to the roads, tunnels and bridges in coordination with the competent authorities.
